Solution Profile |

INTRODUCTION - Designed to be deployed across the corporate intranet, HRCharter Enterprise enables employees across the business to view up to date organisation charts for any part of the business via their browser. HRCharter Enterprise can build charts using all of the standard PeopleSoft hierarchies: • Person to Person relationships (Supervisor) • Position to Position • Position Dotted Line • Department relationships from the department security tree. HRCharter uniquely also creates a Partial Position Management hierarchy that combines both Position and Person relationships. Because of HRCharter Enterprise’s architecture, whenever an employee requests a chart the system uses up-to-date data to generate the chart dynamically. This approach helps to ensure that charts are: • Always up-to-date • Not dependant on the administration function for creation and publishing • Available on demand • Available to (potentially) any employee with access to the company intranet. USER ROLES - HRCharter Enterprise is a roles-based system, allowing employees, managers & HR access to different information on subsets of the employee population. Information on the user roles in PeopleSoft is made available to HRCharter, and these PeopleSoft roles can be mapped by the administrator to the available HRCharter roles. The HRCharter main role types are Employee Self Service and Manager Self Service. Employee Self Service (Corporate Directory) - This role provides employees with access to organisation charts containing a broad range of valuable non-sensitive, public domain information about people and the organisation. As the user moves around the built chart and clicks on individual boxes, the information panel on the right hand side provides more detailed information about each selected box. Manager Self Service (Advanced Charting)- The manager self-service user population is typically made up of HR staff and line managers, and this role provides decision makers with information to enable them to manage more effectively. Users can view within the chart box potentially any information about people and jobs within the context of the organisation structure. For example, they can view service profiles, analyse the distribution of skills, explore the effectiveness of diversity policies, display remuneration, etc. Advanced Charting users are given access to information depending on their (PeopleSoft managed) security settings. This can be based on either their department security access, or the subordinate relationships that report into them. Managers can also model organisation re-design by making temporary changes to the details on screen. Facilities include on screen “drag and drop”, and the capability to add boxes for new positions. Once completed, this temporary view can be exported to other applications including Powerpoint for subsequent presentation. PEOPLESOFT INTEGRATION - The HRCharter Enterprise staging tables can be populated with data from one or many data sources, including PeopleSoft, SAP or Oracle HCM applications. A certified interface has been developed for PeopleSoft 8, and integration is achieved by using a bulk transfer method to update data staging tables that the HRCharter Enterprise application server accesses via ODBC. The version 8 integration can also optionally leverage PeopleSoft security. The user names for HRCharter Enterprise are synchronised with the list of users in PeopleSoft HCM, and user authentication is performed via a Component Interface. This can ensure that users have only one set of user names and passwords for both PeopleSoft and HRCharter Enterprise. CUSTOMISABLE CHART CONTENT - HRCharter's powerful box editor gives admin control over content and design of chart boxes. Features enable chart content to be linked to colours and box shapes that add impact to data, for example showing temporary and full time staff in boxes with different coloured background. |
