| Using state-of-the-art Auto Id techniques such as bar code scanning and RFID, data is collected at key points in the manufacturing cycle. The use of Auto Id has consistently been proven to give significant improvements over manual data entry in terms of speed and accuracy. Using RF enabled handheld data collection terminals or LAN connected fixed terminals, data is then sent to Oracle ERP in real time using the powerful middleware in Epic’s PECS product. Similarly, information from Oracle ERP can be sent in real time through PECS to the operator on the shop floor via the display on the data collection terminal.
